What Kulturee collects, why we collect it, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and how to get it back or have it deleted. Written to be read, not to be survived.
Effective 22 September 2026
1. Who we are
Kulturee is operated by Tytron & Management LLC, registered in Delaware, USA at 113 Gloucester Blvd, Middletown, DE 19709, USA. For data protection purposes we are the controller of the personal data described here.
Privacy questions, requests and complaints: privacy@kulturee.world. Everything else: help@kulturee.world.
This policy covers the Kulturee mobile app and this website. It does not cover the third parties we link to, who have their own policies.
2. What we collect
You give us
- Account: name, username, email address, password (stored hashed, never in readable form), country, date of birth where needed to confirm you are 18.
- Profile: avatar, bio, interests, travel tastes and vibes.
- Content: posts, photos, videos, captions, comments, reviews, saved items, collections, and the trips you plan.
- Messages: direct messages and any media in them.
- Trip details: destinations, dates, budget, group size, and traveller details you enter for a flight or stay (including passport details where the airline requires them).
- Host information: if you apply to be a K-host, your business details, experience listings, meeting points and payment details.
We collect as you use Kulturee
- Transactions: wallet top-ups, bookings, refunds, amounts, dates and what each payment was for.
- Location: only with your permission, and only to show what is near you and how far away a place is. You can refuse and keep using the app; we then use the city you have pinned.
- Device and usage: device model, operating system, app version, language, IP address, crash reports and basic usage events.
- Communications: emails and support messages you exchange with us.
Others give us
- Identity verification: if you apply to be a K-host, our verification partner carries out the check. They collect your ID document, selfie and liveness data as a separate controller under their own policy. Kulturee receives the decision and a limited summary (approved, declined, in review, and the reasons), not your document images.
- Payments: our payment provider confirms whether a top-up succeeded. We store the amount, status and a reference. We never see or store your full card number.
- Travel suppliers: booking references, tickets and order status for flights and stays.
3. Why we use it, and our legal basis
- To run the service. Accounts, bookings, the wallet, messages, content, itineraries. Basis: performance of our contract with you.
- To plan trips with AI. Your destination, dates, budget, group size and travel preferences are sent to our AI provider to generate an itinerary. We do not send your name, email or payment details, and the provider does not use this content to train its models. Basis: performance of our contract.
- To verify hosts and prevent fraud. Identity checks, sanctions and risk screening, detecting abuse of the wallet. Basis: legal obligation and our legitimate interest in a safe marketplace.
- To notify you. Bookings, messages, mentions, likes, follows and trip invites. You control each kind and each channel in Settings. Basis: contract, and consent for marketing email.
- To keep Kulturee safe and working. Moderation, security, debugging, measuring what people use. Basis: legitimate interests.
- To meet legal and accounting obligations. Tax, financial records and responding to lawful requests. Basis: legal obligation.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
5. Where your data goes
Kulturee is used around the world and our providers operate in several countries, so your data may be processed outside the country you live in. Where it leaves a region that restricts transfers, we rely on an approved safeguard, such as standard contractual clauses or an adequacy decision, and you can ask us for a copy of the one that applies.
6. How long we keep it
- Account and profile: while your account is open, then deleted or anonymised within 30 days of closure.
- Content and messages: until you delete them or close your account. Copies age out of our backups within 90 days, and content others have shared or replied to may remain.
- Transactions and bookings: 7 years, even after you close your account. Company, tax and anti-money-laundering law all require us to keep financial records, and that obligation outlives the account.
- Verification outcomes: kept while you host and for the period anti-fraud and compliance rules require afterwards. Your documents are held by the verification partner, not by us.
- Support conversations: 24 months, so we can follow the history of an issue you raise again.
- Security and server logs: 12 months.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you can ask us to:
- give you a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
- correct anything inaccurate. Most of it you can edit yourself in the app;
- delete your account and data, subject to what we must keep for legal and accounting reasons;
- restrict or object to a particular use, including profiling;
- receive your data in a portable format;
- withdraw consent where we relied on it, without affecting what came before.
Write to privacy@kulturee.world. We respond within one month and may need to confirm your identity first. If you are not satisfied you can complain to your local data protection authority.
8. How we protect it
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access to production data is limited to the people who need it, is authenticated individually, and administrative actions are logged. Passwords are stored hashed. No system is perfectly secure, so if a breach affects you we will tell you and the relevant regulator as the law requires.
10. Children
Kulturee is for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has given us personal data, write to privacy@kulturee.world and we will delete it.
11. Changes to this policy
We update this policy as Kulturee changes. The effective date at the top always reflects the current version, and we will tell you in the app or by email before a material change takes effect.
